After the arrival of Solvay Car 1 and transmitting a signal 99 working fire, OHFD Truck 4 was called and requested to respond and set up in the rear of Solvay Carpets on the C side or rear of the building. After holding the position and giving reports to command of the fires spread, command ordered OHFD Tk-4 to operate the heavy stream. RP-2 was rerouted from standby to the scene and to pick up a long LDH hose lay that was made to provide more water to OHFD & Syracuse Truck 3. RP-2 pumped the plug for well over 9 hours while the trucks master stream was preventing the spread of the fire to nearby exposures and to start to darken the massive fire down. Very cold temperatures of around zero made this large fire fight that much more difficult. In all over 18 different departments worked together to control this large fire.
