MILD WINTER SLOWS CALL VOLUME

Friday, February 3, 2012 10:00 As CNY enjoys a mild low snow total, area fire depts are seeing less weather related emergency alarms. Also volunteers have not had to shovel area fire hydrants. Jan. 2012 only producd 62 alarms for the OHFD volunteers.

   


 

3 CARCRASH ONONDAGA ROAD

Monday, January 23, 2012 07:45 OHFD alerted for a MVC near Howlett Hill Road. RP-2 (OIC Bush) with four volunteers and Car 3 (Gancarz) handled the minor accident. Units out 20 minutes.

   


 

92nd ANNIVERSARY INSTALLATION BANQUET

Saturday, January 21, 2012 23:59 OHFD members, family & friends gathered tonight to install the 2012 Officers and celebrate achievements in 2011.

 Retired Sheriffs Deputy Rich McCarron was our MC and Past Camillus Chief Jeff Gancarz was the installation officer.  Chief Jim Flynn was sworn in as Fire Chief, Josh Fuller, Deputy Chief & Eric Gancarz as Asst. Chief. Captains; Steve Garofalo, Tim LeFever & Steven Tiss. Lts; Steve Serrao, Jason Schoonmaker & Paul Lukacs. SCBA Tech Howard Carr III, EMS Teck Kristin Smith. President Donna Moore was sworn in as President, Dave Okoniewski Vice President, Treasurer Ray Chadwick, Secretary Kristin Smith, Asst Treasurer Sara Nartin, Asst Secretary Marilyn Carr. Board of Directors; John Breh, Jim Patchin, Lou Rezak, Jason Schoonmaker, Steve Serrao. Jones Tones provided DJ music for all to enjoy.

RESCUE PUMPER TO TAUNTON CAR FIRE

Saturday, January 14, 2012 16:00 Taunton Fire units alerted for a car fire on Thundercloud drive.  OHFD RP-2 went enroute with 5 volunteers.  On arrival of TFD Eng 6 a fully involved engine compartment was well off. Both units worked togather to control the fire. All units cleared in 30 minutes. No injurys reported.

   


 

FRIDAY THE 13th PROVES TO BE A BUSY ENGINE 94 DAY

Friday, January 13, 2012 16:00 OHFD Engine 94 crew kept quite busy during the snow/ice strom today running eight alarms. A Haz Mat MVC, a "98" House Fire, three MVC's and a few EMS house calls.

   


 

ENG 94 TO NEDROW HOUSE FIRE

Friday, January 13, 2012 13:48 A full Fire Box  was transmitted for a possible fire at 106 Thompson Rd in Nedrow. South Onondaga Chiefs arrived first with black smoke from the chimney with a fire that extended from a fire place. OHFD Eng 94 arrived, secured their own water supply, pulled an attack line and begin extinguishing the fire and opened up the walls to locate hidden fire. Crews operated for 2 hours before returning to Onondaga Hill.

   


 

ENGINE 94 TO NAVARINO HAZMAT CALL

Friday, January 13, 2012 10:15 OHFD Engine 94 was alerted to respond to Route 20 to assist departments on a tractor trailer that crashed that was carring a Haz Mat load. A county Haz Mat rep was called, after an investigation a FULL County Haz Mat Team response was called for. While units staged at McDonalds in Lafayette, command canceled all units. Eng 94 returned.

   


 

McDONALD ROAD HILL ACCIDENT

Friday, January 13, 2012 07\"05 OHFD & Taunton FD rescue units alerted during the beginning of the ice, snow storm for a car that hit a house. RP-2, Cars 1 & 3 arrived to find very little damage and no injurys to the driver. Roads were very slick as todays storm and high winds moved in.

   


 

SETTING SUN TERRACE FIRE CALL

Sunday, January 8, 2012 18:15 OHFD & Taunton Fire units alerted during the dinner hour for a CO alarm with illness. Rescue Pumper-2, Squad 5 & Car 3 and Taunton Eng-6 & Car 2 arrived and started an investigation with the meters. Rural Metro Ambulance was also on scene. Units found a bad detector and the occupant refused medical aid. Asst Chief Gancarz had the command. Units cleared in 20 minutes.
